EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — About 6,800 CHZHVAN-brand combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are being recalled because they may not alert people to a fire.

There have been five reports of the devices failing to activate in the presence of smoke, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. No injuries had been reported date as of No injuries had been reported date as of Friday.

The recalled detectors have model number JKD-512. They were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from August 2023 through January 2024.

The CPSC says that since the manufacturers have been uncooperative with the recall, consumers are urged to just dispose of the devices.
