On November 4, 2025, voters approved ballot measure 2F to change the name of the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses to the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

🛠 What’s changing?
Nothing about our services is changing. We still handle business and occupational licenses in Denver and take complaints from customers about law violations by businesses and occupations we regulate. If you want to file a complaint, call 311 or go online at www.Denvergov.org/ConsumerProtection.

🏢 How does this affect businesses?
It doesn’t. Businesses that need a license will still get the same services. The name change is just to make it easier for people to understand what we do. We removed the word “excise” because we already do not regulate or collect excise taxes.
